Etherian and Metatherian differences and similarities in production and survival

Eutherians and metatherians are pouched animals believed to have originated from the early stages of cretaceous ages. These organisms were small possessing various close physiological and developmental characteristics. Eutherian characteristics embraced diverse processes such as body metabolic rates and energy consumption during reproduction and the fate of each upon population increase in the ecosystem (Hamel et al. 2010). Although these organisms shared some common features and characteristics, their gestation spell and lactation period were marred with different energy consumptions in their respective environments.

Both Eutherians and metatherians produced young ones however the size and weight of these offsprings were different. Eutherians offsprings developed fully and more in the parent's pouch as compared to small metatherians. This indicated that although all produced young ones, their developments and growth differed. This difference was a result of the mother,s ability to care for offspring as well as the environmental challenges in comparison to the body ability and survival tactics. Female eutherians showed strong relationships bond with the mother compared to others for metatherian and this resulted in more healthy young one of the Eutherian as compared to Metatherians (Dunbar & Shultz 2010).

The research suggested that since eutherians had a more developed body, they immensely care for their offsprings and therefore the young ones emerge strong and more able to survive in the ecosystems compare to the small-bodied and therefore less care in the case of metatherian. Eutherians produced more milk and more care compared to metatherians resulting in healthy young ones. As a result, the offspring grew health and obtained all the requirements such as milk from their mothers and this made them more capable of surviving in the environments increasing their population over the later. (Koskela et al. 2009)

The animal that possessed a longer life expectancy compared to the other is likely to pass the same to the offsprings for future survival. (Hamel et al.2010).However, due to the increased cost of production and care during lactation and gestation period, the mother's futures became reduced.

Metathrian mother's population was not reduced significantly compared to those of the Eutherian. This is because more energy of production and care by the Eutherina affected their future lifespan. The population of Eutrherians mother declined steadily compared to those of metatherian since they consumed lesser energy cost during the same period. ( Naylor et al.2008).

Subsequently, The offspring produced from more capable and developed mothers attained better survival chances compared to Metatherian's offsprings. Mother survival became the reverse of the offspring's survival. The overall population of Eutherian however rose compared to those of the metatherians.
