Domestication of ruminants has had a significant contribution to the survival of many societies due to their products such as milk, and that is used in the production of various industrial products such as cheese and yogurts. Even though ruminants have a tremendous positive impact when domesticated, but they also have various disadvantages.

Disadvantages of Domesticating Ruminants.

1.     Domestication, a big number of ruminants, requires a big farm and feeds, making the process more costly.

2.     Domestication requires high capital to start and maintain. This comes from the cost of farm attendees, pesticides, and feeding.

3.     Domestication of a large number of ruminants leads to the high production of methane gas from their waste, and this contributes to global warming.

4.     Domestication of ruminants can lead to the spreading of diseases, especially zoonotic diseases from animals to humans such as anthrax.

5.     Domestication of ruminants leads to the accumulation of manure in large amounts; this leads to waste that has a high amount of smell that pollutes the air around, and improper disposal of such waste leads to contamination of groundwater.

6.     Domestication of animals has lead to the evolution of drug resistance pathogens from the antibiotics that are used in treating them.
