Homeostasis of Temperature (cold). Our bodies try to maintain a constant temperature close to 98.6 F or 37 C. If the environment gets cold, we often shiver to get warm. This is an automatic response to maintaining temperature.

Maintenance of homeostasis usually involves negative feedback loops. These loops act to oppose the stimulus, or cue, that triggers them. For example, if your body temperature is too low, a negative feedback loop will act to bring it back down towards the set point, or target value, of 98.6 ∘ F.
