Rotational farming, shifting cultivation, pastoralism are examples of the sustainable indigenous knowledge practices.

Rotational farming is the practice of planting different crops sequentially on the same plot of land to improve soil health, optimize nutrients in the soil, and combat pest and weed pressure. For example, say a farmer has planted a field of corn.

Shifting cultivation is a system of cultivation in which a plot of land is cleared and cultivated for a short period of time, then abandoned and allowed to revert to producing its normal vegetation while the cultivator moves on to another plot.

Pastoralism, or animal husbandry, is that part of agriculture that deals with animal livestock such as goats, chickens, yaks, camels, sheep, and bovine, etc. Not only are they great sources of proteinaceous meat, but also many provide milk, eggs, leather, and fiber too.
