Describe the following terms as they relate to the structure of DNA
ii) Nucleotide
A nucleotide is the building block of nucleic acids - RNA and DNA. These polymers consist of long chains of nucleotides attached by the phosphodiester bond. A nucleotide is made of a sugar molecule (ribose in RNA or deoxyribose in DNA) attached to a phosphate group and a nitrogen-containing base (adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine or uracil).
