why do plant cell have a cell wall and animal cell do not?

Plant cell wall is rigid therefore it protects the plant cells from mechanical injury and from pathogens. Also gives a plant its shape. Additionally, plant cell wall prevents cells from rupturing when water enters the cells. Cell wall is needed for the plant but contributes to plants immobility. Animals, on the other hand, do not need this structure as they developed nervous, skeletal, immune, excretory systems.
