In contrast to the natural ecosystem, agricultural ecosystems are artificial and contain a limited number of species. It is a modified ecosystem and is controlled by humans. As a result, in many cases, the ecosystem solely depends on humans who might supply minerals, control pests, and diseases. Overall, the interactions between species in the agricultural ecosystem are simplified. 

As a result, natural ecosystems are more stable and resistant to damaging abiotic factors, as well as diseases and pests, whereas agricultural ecosystems are sensitive to disturbing forces and conditions. Finally, a natural ecosystem is sustainable and can maintain itself through efficient reproduction, whereas agricultural ecosystem exists only during one or several seasons or requires continuous support provided by humans.
