Primarily, lactic acid fermentation differs from ethyl alcohol fermentation in that lactic acid, rather than ethanol, is the resulting by-product. Lactic acid fermentation occurs in human muscles where glucose is converted into lactate and ethyl alcohol fermentation occurs in yeast where glucose is converted into pyruvate and then it is converted to ethanol. Bot types of fermentation are required for the regeneration of NAD+ molecule and both types of fermentation have their own benefits i.e lactic acid fermentation is essential in human beings and ethanol fermentation is essential for yeasts.
