Proteins, nucleic acids, polysaccharides are long polymers produced by living organisms. In other words, they are biopolymers. The monomeric subunits in biopolymers are joined by covalent bonds. The monomeric unit for proteins is an amino acid; the nucleic acids are polymers of nucleotides and polysaccharides are comprised of simple sugars.
