During the process of Protein synthesis, what are the protein modifications that take place in the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum and the Golgi?

There are following main events which occur with newly synthesized polypeptides in RER: formation of disulfide bonds, protein folding, glycosylation (addition of carbohydrates), and assembly of polypeptides chains. Some of these processes, like glycosylation, phosphorylation, adding of manose-6-phosphate to the proteins, occur in Golgi apparatus. In the Golgi apparatus also takes place the process of proteolytic cleavage of large proteins to small active proteins by specific endoproteases.
