A squamous tissue is a type of epithelial tissue and it is categorized into stratified squamous and simple squamous. Simple squamous is characterized by a single layer of flat cells while stratified is formed by several layers of cells. Stratified squamous is divided into unkeratinised stratified squamous epithelium and keratinized stratified squamous epithelium.
