Anaphase I is a step of the meiosis that is associated with the separation of two homologous chromosomes. This process leads to the reduction of the chromosome number in the gamete. As a result, two gene alleles located on the homologous chromosomes are separated into different gametes. As a result, the letters that are placed outside of a Punnet square indicate alleles located on the homologous chromosomes that were separated in the anaphase I.
