Question #235003

Why is it that in evolutionary tree birds never give rise to mammals but birds are the closest to mammals?

Expert's answer

Birds' bodies are coated in feathers. No animals have feathers, yet the majority of them have hairy skin. Finally, birds lay eggs, hard-shelled eggs to be precise. Mammals give birth to their young, whereas birds' offspring must hatch from eggs.
