The advantages of wildlife conservation in national parks include the following and are not limited to: first, it creates economic opportunities to the local communities. Positions of rangers, environmentalists and managers are filled by the surrounding community thereby improving their lifestyles. Second, wildlife conservation protects forests from deforestation and also rebuilds the forest habitats thereby preserving biodiversity. This helps improve the carbon-sequestering process leading to clean air. Third, wildlife conservation saves many species of animals from extinction,this leads to creation of tourist attractions sites. This sites leads to the development of the local community. There are improvements in access to the forest resources, improvement in basic infrastructures including drinking water, roads and bridges. There are improvements in health, sanitation, and social services which inturn helps the local communities by accessing such.
Disadvantages of wildlife conservation in national parks with respect to local communities around the park are: first, deaths of other domesticated animals killed by wild animals who escaped the parks. Second, destruction of properties belong to the local community caused by wild animals who escaped the wildlife parks e.g big animals such as elephants destroy farms and fences.
