Macromolecules and microparticles can be separated in the following ways:
- Centrifugation - this is the separation of heterogeneous systems into fractions by density using centrifugal forces.
- Filtration - the process of separating solids from liquids or gases by passing them through a filter.
- Electrophoresis - this is the process of directed motion of particles dispersed in a liquid in a constant electric field.
- Chromatography - this is a dynamic method of separation and determination of substances based on multiple distribution of components between two phases – mobile and non-mobile.
