Question #60039

Describe some of the ways that membranous organelles can maintain their unique compositions despite the continuous traffic of membranes and materials moving through them.

Expert's answer

There are certain receptors that bind to specific soluble proteins and carry only the proteins
destined to be dispatched through vesicle to a compartment. By this a unique composition of
membranous organelles is maintained.
The proteins after reaching a destination are sorted out. The proteins which need to be shipped
back to the previous compartment are distinguished and dispatched.
