Answer to Question #114671 in Cell Biology for MAKHUOGA ALFRED FRIDAY

Question #114671
Choose one out of paracrine signalling, endocrine signalling, autocrine signalling and direct signalling and describe briefly the process by which this occurs.
Pick a representative signal molecule from the pathway you have chosen and indicate its function, the type of cell in which it is made and the specific manner in which it acts as a signalling molecule, including the receptor that it binds to.

There are four basic categories of chemical signaling found in multicellular organisms:paracrine signaling, autocrine signaling, endocrine signaling, and signaling by direct contact.Paracrine signaling is a form of cell signalingor cell-to-cell communication in which a cellproduces a signal to induce changes in nearbycells, altering the behaviour of those cells.

Cells that produce paracrine factors secrete them into the immediate extracellular environment.endocrine signaling occurs when endocrine cells release hormones that act on distant target cells in the body. Endocrine signaling can be distinguished from two other types of signaling: neural signaling and paracrine signaling.Neurons are connected to their target cells via synapses
