The following is not the importance of the homeostasis mechanism in a human
D. To regulate the body temperature at the normal level.
This is because the homeostasis helps to maintain normal body temperature when the body temperature increases or decreases. It need not to maintain the body temperature when it is at the normal level.
When the external temperature increases then Vasodilation occurs that causes relaxation of smooth muscles, brings more blood and heat to the body surface, facilitating radiation and evaporative heat loss by means of sweating and thus results in cooling the body. Vasoconstriction that is the narrowing of blood vessels to the skin by contraction of their smooth muscles, reduces blood flow in peripheral blood vessels, forcing blood toward the core and vital organs to conserve heat when the external temperature or environmental temperature decrease.
