Phosphatidylcholine is a lipid molecule containing a choline group and a glycerophosphoric acid with two fatty acids. As phosphatidylcholine has positively charged hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail, it is localized in a cellular membrane. As a result, the major function of phosphatidylcholine is to maintain the integrity of cellular membranes.
