Glycogenesis and glycogenolysis is regulated by hormones. When level of blood glucose fall α cells of pancrease secretes the glucagon. Glucagon stimulates glycogenolysis inside the liver. Glycogenolysis releases glucose into the bloodstream to improve blood glucose levels again.
