Which process is directly affected by DCCD, electron transfer or ATP synthesis?
DCCD stands for Diclyclohexyl carbo diimide. This inhibitor makes covalent bond with the glutamate amino acid of the c sub unit of F• part of ATP synthase complex.
It will inhibit the flow of protons ion across the F• sub units of ATP synthase complex. There are not found rotation of ATP synthase complex. That's why ATP synthase enzyme will not synthesize ATP in presence of DCCD inhibitor.
That's why DCCD directly affects the ATP synthesis process.
