There are several possible variants: 1) photon will hit with electron and will give all it's energy to electron(w=hf); 2) photon will hit with electron and will not give all it's energy to electron, because it's energy is smaller than difference between next possible and current energy levels of electron; 3) photon will give all it's impulse atomic nucleus; 4) it will not interact with atom;
