Take Young’s modulus for concrete to be 4.57 x 109 N/m2 and the compressive strength to be 1.32 x 106 N/m2. (a) What is the stress in the cement on a hot day of 43.0oC? (b) Does the concrete fracture? (Take  = 1.2 x 10-5 oC-1).
