Question #210992

The north pole is away from a metallic ring lying horizontally. The direction of current is:

1- anti clock wise 2- clock wise

3- no current induced

Expert's answer

When we bring a north pole near a metallic ring applying Lenz's law (states that the direction of the electric current which is induced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field is such that the magnetic field created by the induced current opposes changes in the initial magnetic field).  the ring will behave as north pole so that repulsion occurs. So direction of current induced in it will be anticlockwise.
